PJ spent his whole life surrounded by animals. Born in San Juan, Puerto Rico, he learned to ride horses and milk goats even before he learned how to walk. He whelped his first litter of puppies at the tender age of 12, when one of his favorite dogs, Wendy, decided that the safest place for her to give birth was between his legs, at 3 o'clock in the morning, while he slept. This was his sign that he was put on this Earth to provide safe shelter and never ending love to as many dogs as he could for the rest of his life. Never having spent a single day of his life without a companion animal has given him insight and a second sense into the canine world, unparalled by any other.
Referred by some as a "Dog Whisperer" and pet guru, his confidential list of clients reads like a who's who of the Manhattan social scene. Yet, he's content referring to himself as just "The Dog Walker". Besides growing up on a working farm and training under the tutelage of his father Carlos, a full time horse wrangler for the Friedman estate in the Caribbean, PJ has traveled all over United States and Europe furthering his education in the canine field. Featured on Animal Planets' "Animal Icons", Fox News, HX Magazine and Next Magazine to name a few, PJ has just been cast as the canine behavior specialist on the new season of E Network's "The Gastineau Girls". He is also in the process of writing his first and long awaited book, "How to Turn Heads with the Perfect Dog.101 Tips from a New York City Dog Walker".
PJ lives on Manhattan's Upper East Side and in the Berkshires with his partner of 9 years and their six Shih-Tzus: Sheffield, Great Barrington, Ashley Falls, Annie Lenox, Peggy Lee and Stevie.
